Lower the speed limit
True. It's both a great way to save gas and a great safety tip. Consumer Reports said that in highway tests, increasing a car's cruising speed from 55 to 65 mile per hour cut its fuel economy by 5 miles per gallon. Driving at 75 miles per hour reduced fuel economy by another 5 miles per gallon. Drag affects a car more at higher speeds, requiring it to use more fuel.
