Tips for preventing identity theft

Be careful at ATMS

The lurker trying to catch an over-your-shoulder glimpse of your PIN number is not all you need to fear at an ATM.

ATM identity theft is a fast-growing problem, in large part because of data-capturing skimmers placed over or near ATM card slots. The device saves the information stored on the card's magnetic strip, allowing thieves to reproduce cards or use the information to shop online, according to Bankrate.

For more information on the potential dangers at ATMs, check out this Bankrate article.
