The 10 scariest and creepiest jobs
No. 2: Miner
The job: Mining has long been considered a dangerous job, and for good reason. Digging underground with the possibility of a collapse or gas leak -- and a few thousand feet of dirt -- hovering overhead can be terrifying.
Scary to people with: Claustrophobia (confined spaces), achluophobia (darkness), mysophobia (germs or dirt)
"It has the highest mortality rate of any profession in the US," Lee said. Not only that, but miners can get lung diseases from breathing dust and dirt for long periods of time, other infections from underground germs, claustrophobia, and conditions associated with lack of sun light. Eek.
