This suburb is known for its location, namely its close proximity to downtown Denver and the university town Boulder. The town is also a day trip away from Rocky Mountain National Park, and near Black Hawk and Central City, which are both historic mining towns that have legalized gambling. Westminster itself has an abundance of activities, including hiking and shopping. However, temperatures tend to drop well below freezing in the winter.
