A state council gave the green light yesterday to tax credits for eight projects the Patrick administration says will help create 355 new jobs and retain 328 existing jobs.

Officials said the projects approved for the Economic Development Incentive Program will leverage more than $97 million in private investment. Project applications were approved by the Economic Assistance Coordinating Council. Under a 2009 law, the council may make awards based on the job creation and retention commitments of applicants and their level of sales outside Massachusetts.
