LAS VEGAS—Officials at Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport say October was the busiest month ever for taxi business.
Airport spokesman Chris Jones says that more than 322,000 taxis loaded at the airport's two passenger terminals was more than the previous record of nearly 316,000 cabs loaded in March 2008.
Before this year, the only other time the 63-year-old airport exceeded 300,000 taxi trips in a month was in May 2008.
This year, it has topped the mark three times -- in March, May and October.
McCarran is now on pace for a new record of more than 3.2 million taxis loaded this year.
The airport is the nation's eighth-busiest by passenger volume.
It handled just under 40 million arriving and departing travelers in 2010.![]()
