Q: I moved to Florida to take a teaching job here. Can I deduct my moving expenses? -- Jason, Natick
A: If you have moved so that the additional distance between your residence (at the time of the job change) and the new job site is at least 50 miles more than the distance between your residence and the old job site, you will qualify to claim moving deductions (the cost of moving household goods and the mileage on your car to travel to the new job area). You may KEEP the deduction provided you remain employed in the new are for at least 39 weeks out of the 52 weeks following the move.
