I paid tax in two states, can I get any of this money back?
I moved from California to Massachusetts in July, continuing to work in Massachusetts for the same employer. Before I left I submitted a new W-4 changing my address. My company didn't change my location code until eight pay periods later. For those eight pay periods I paid tax in both California and Massachusetts. Is it possible to get any of this money back for both my state and federal returns? --Kathleen

I didn't file as an independent contractor, what should I do?
I was a personal trainer (independent contractor) part-time last year and didn't know I had to make payments as an IC and made less than $4000. I know I have to file a Schedule C-EZ. I was wondering if I should submit a Schedule ES? I'm not quite sure what to do at this point and am worried that I might be charged a penalty. I do work full-time and took extra out of my federal tax to try to compensate. - Lisa
