10. Taxes cut on capital gains
The 5-percent tax on certain dividends and capital gains has been lowered to zero. This applies to investors whose taxable income is less than:
- $65,100 for married couples filing jointly and some widows and widowers
- $32,550 for single people or married couples filing separately
- $43,650 for heads of household
