Don't miss the deadline
File your tax return by April 15, even if you can't pay what you owe. A taxpayer who cannot pay his or her tax bill should let the IRS know so that it can work out an alternative payment arrangement. Taxpayers who owe less than $25,000 in taxes, penalties, and interest can use the Online Payment Agreement on the IRS website.
If you're mailing in your return, make sure you get is postmarked by the 15th. The Fort Point Station Post Office near South Station is the only post office in the state open until midnight, according to a spokeswoman.
