Barnes & Noble had been making progress, but e-reader heavyweight Amazon.com has reasserted its dominance with the new Kindle Paperwhite, Globe technology columnist Hiawatha Bray writes in his Tech Lab review this week.

With a starting price of $119, itís thinner and simpler than the Nook, with a superior lighting system.
