ASM International to leave rapid thermal processing market
NEW YORK—ASM International NV, a Dutch maker of semiconductor equipment and materials, said Monday that it will leave the rapid thermal processing market this year.
ASM said the move is part of a plan to streamline its wafer processing product portfolio and focus on the sustained profitability of the company's front-end operations.
The company said that conditions for getting out of the rapid thermal processing business will be determined in the upcoming quarters. To give current customers ongoing support and service, the company prefers to transfer the product to a third party that will take over commitments.
ASM also said that its plan to exit the business will ensure that its 2009 front-end profit and loss and operating results won't be affected any more by the rapid thermal processing product line.![]()
