SOUTHPOINTE, Pa.—Ansys Inc., a developer of engineering software, said Friday regulators have ended the company's antitrust waiting period early, clearing the way for its proposed acquisition of Ansoft Corp.

The waiting period is used under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act to determine if the acquisition violates antitrust laws.

Ansys is acquiring Ansoft, a software developer, for $832 million in cash and stock.

The deal is expected to close by the end of the current quarter.
