ACI Worldwide shares fall on weak third-quarter results

NEW YORK—Shares of ACI Worldwide Inc. fell on Thursday, after the electronic-payments company reported a wider loss in the fiscal third quarter, missing analyst expectations.

Loss for the quarter ended March 31 fell to $3.5 million, or 10 cents per share, compared with a loss of $414,000, or a penny per share in the year-ago quarter.

Revenue rose 3 percent to $92.6 million from $89.9 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Financial predicted a profit of 10 cents per share on revenue of $93 million.

Shares fell $2.30, or 11.6 percent, to $17.53 during afternoon trading. The stock has traded between $12.32 and $36.68 during the past 52 weeks.
