BMC Software expects fiscal 2009 earnings growth
HOUSTON—Business software company BMC Software Inc. said Thursday it expects fiscal 2009 earnings to rise between 34 percent and 40 percent compared with the previous year.
BMC Software expects to earn between $2.10 and $2.20 per share during fiscal 2009, which began April 1. The earnings estimate excludes 89 cents of special items including expenses related to the amortization of acquired technology and intangible, in-process research tied to its acquisition of BladeLogic and stock-based compensation.
The estimate includes a charge of 10 cents per share tied to the BladeLogic acquisition and another 6 cents due to the write-down of deferred revenue, retention and integration costs.
During fiscal 2008, BMC Software earned $1.57 per share.
Analysts polled by Thomson Financial, on average, forecast BMC Software will earn $2.09 per share during fiscal 2009. Analysts typically exclude special items from their estimates.
Shares of BMC Software rose $1.32, or 3.6 percent, to $37.75 in after-hours trading. They earlier rose 61 cents to close at $36.43.![]()
