SUWANEE, Ga.—Communications technology company Arris Group Inc. said Tuesday it expects second-quarter sales below its prior guidance and earnings at or near the low end of its previous forecast amid "maturing demand" for some of its products.
The company now expects sales of $278 million to $280 million for the quarter, below its April outlook of $288 million to $303 million.
Analysts, on average, are predicting sales of $294.8 million, according to a poll by Thomson Financial.
Arris had previously forecast earnings of 4 cents to 8 cents per share for the quarter, with adjusted earnings of 13 cents to 17 cents per share. It did not give a specific profit forecast Tuesday.
Analysts are expecting earnings of 16 cents per share.
The company also said its bookings and backlog will be "much improved" compared with the first quarter.
Arris plans to post the quarter's results on July 30.
Shares slid $1.40, or 16 percent, to $7.50 in after-hours electronic trading. The stock had closed up 23 cents, or 2.7 percent, at $8.90 in the regular session.![]()
