NEW YORK—The Nasdaq 100 index fell in midday trading Wednesday as crude oil prices edged higher after Tuesday's drop, and investors awaited the latest batch of earnings releases.
The index, which includes 100 of the largest nonfinancial securities listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market, fell 1.51 points to 1,869.77 at about 11:30 a.m. The broader Nasdaq composite fell 1.45 points to 2,292.99.
Shares of beverage maker Hansen Natural Corp. fell $2.76, or 9.5 percent, to $26.19.
Shares of Leap Wireless International Inc. lost $1.99, or 4.9 percent, to $38.98.
Shares of Intuit Inc. fell $1.08, or 3.8 percent, to $27.12. A Goldman Sachs analyst added the financial software company to a list of stocks to sell Wednesday.
On the gaining side, shares of Steel Dynamics Inc. added $3.24, or 10.2 percent, to $34.94. A UBS analyst upgraded the company on Wednesday.
Shares of Joy Global Inc., which makes mining equipment, rose $3.35, or 4.7 percent, to $74.51.
Shares of information technology company Infosys Technologies Ltd. increased $1.86, or 4.3 percent, to $44.87.![]()
