MCLEAN, Va. — Government contractor Science Applications International Corp. said yesterday that it has agreed to buy Reveal Imaging Technologies Inc., a Bedford company that makes equipment for screening baggage at airports.

Science Applications did not say how much it is paying for privately held Reveal Imaging.

Science Applications said Reveal Imaging was founded in 2002 in response to heightened security needs following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Its equipment has been certified by the Transportation Security Administration to help detect explosive materials in bags, the company said.
