Lantos Technologies has named a new chief executive and closed a $4.1 million round of financing.

Jeffrey C. Leathe succeeds Shahid Azim, the founding chief executive. Azim becomes senior vice president of new market development, focusing on consumer applications. Before joining Cambridge-based Lantos, Leathe was chairman and chief executive of Biocius Life Sciences, a privately held firm specializing in drug discovery research and clinical diagnostic testing.

Lantos seeks to commercialize a 3-D digital scanner capable of mapping the ear canal to improve the performance of hearing aids, earphones, and noise-canceling devices. The company’s technology traces its roots to the lab of Douglas Hart, a professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Financing came from Catalyst Health Ventures, Excel Venture Management, and Mass Medical Angels, the company said.
