Have you "Read" a new book? "Listened" to a new song? "Watched" a new film?
If so, you won't have to type the word any longer. Facebook will soon give users the chance to click on Read, Watched and Listened buttons to show that they have experienced the same item as their friends.
That's according to TechCrunch, whose sources say that a "Want" button is also on the way, allowing users to promote the things they want most.
If the report is true, this will mark the first time that Facebook has expanded beyond its "Like" button roots.
Inevitably, this could lead to another slate of new buttons. "Acquired" seems to be a nice follow-up to "Want," since the only other course of action would be to "Un-want" the item, which would remove your name from the list but fail to explain why. Users might be led to believe that you changed your mind, when in fact you followed through with your plans to buy that shiny Ford Mustang.
"Attended" is another button that should make the list. Without it, how am I supposed to show that I attended the Blink-182 concert earlier this month? By actually typing the words, I attended this concert? That would be ridiculous!
Unfortunately, there is one tidbit of news that Facebook users are sure to dislike: despite the high demand for it, the social networking giant is adamantly against the idea of a Dislike button. Consequently, you shouldn't expect to see one.![]()
