10 'safest' cellphones
While research has not conclusively linked cellphone radiation to health risks, the Federal Communications Commission has set restrictions to the specific absorption rate, or SAR, people can receive from hand-held devices.
For exposure to the general public, the FCC allows a maximum SAR of 1.6 watts/kg. Before a phone gets FCC approval for marketing in the United States, it must meet this threshold.
The Environmental Working Group recently reported the top 10 "safest" cellphones, based on radiation info that was available. Not all phones on the market had the radiation info in the report, however.
