One of Boston Scientific Corp.'s top executives, chief medical officer Mary Russell, has resigned and will leave in July, a spokesman said. Russell oversees clinical and regulatory affairs for the company's $6 billion portfolio of medical devices. The Natick company did not offer a reason for Russell's departure. Russell, a cardiologist, joined the Natick company six years ago and helped shepherd the company's Taxus drug-eluting stent through its clinical trials. Taxus sales now account for almost $3 billion annually, making it one of the top-selling medical devices in the world. Russell, 51, gained significant new duties in 2004 when she was put in charge of regulatory affairs as well as clinical testing.
