Cambridge Devices raises $2.5M
Cambridge Devices, an early-stage medical-device maker, said today that it has completed a $2.5 million round of seed funding from Kodiak Venture Partners, a venture capital firm in Waltham.
The company said it will use the capital to enhance product development and strategic alliance efforts.
Dave Furneaux of Kodiak will join the company's board of directors, as will microbiology professor Anthony Sinskey of MIT, the company said.
Cambridge Devices seeks to develop technologies that allow doctors to receive real-time pathology information so they perform more accurate and successful surgical procedures; such real-time data is especially useful for doctors performing breast biopsies and skin-cancer excisions, the company said.
The company said it is currently developing two devices and has a third in clinical trial.
