Citizens to match donations to Salvation Army green kettles
Citizens Bank has unveiled a new partnership with the Salvation Army of Massachusetts that will turn some of the army's famous red donation kettles green for the upcoming holiday season.
Green is a signature Citizens color, and Citizens Bank Foundation promises to match up to $250,000 in donations collected in 50 specially marked green kettles throughout Massachusetts.
The kettle campaign has been the Salvation Army's key fund-raising initiative for more than a century.
Last year, the Salvation Army raised $2.9 million to help disadvantaged individuals, families, and children in the Bay State.
"The Salvation Army and Citizens Bank share more than organizational colors traditionally associated with the holiday season," said Robert M. Mahoney, vice chairman of Citizens Financial Group, in a statement. "Both organizations are committed to making a difference in the communities we serve."
