Mass. Medical Device group gets FDA briefing
A top official of the US Food and Drug Administration briefed the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council on details of the FDA's plan to overhaul and strengthen the way it monitors the safety of medical devices after they reach the market, the council's president said.
Susan Gardner, director of the FDA's office of surveillance and biometrics center for devices and radiological health, was the keynote speaker at a council event this morning.
"Dr. Gardner provided important information on how the FDA will change its post-market activities, important information for all medical device companies," council president Tom Sommer said in a statement. "Massachusetts medical device companies are among the leaders in developing and pioneering medical device technologies."
The Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council is an organization of 360 manufacturers, suppliers, research institutions, and academic health centers.
