Verizon expands FiOS rollout
Verizon Communications Inc. said it has introduced its FiOS TV service to consumers in Littleton, Natick, and Newton, adding 45,000 households to the list of communities where the service is available.
Verizon also said that the board of selectmen in Franklin has granted it a cable franchise, paving the way for the FiOS TV service to be available to another 6,000 households.
The Franklin board's vote means that FiOS TV is either available or soon will be available to 38 communities in the Bay State, Verizon said; in Massachusetts, the service is now available to more than 200,000 households.
FiOS TV is a fiber-optic television service delivered over an all-digital, fiber network, which, according to Verizon, offers better picture-quality than other cable TV options.
