Vertical Communications buys Arizona firm
Vertical Communications, a Cambridge provider of Internet protocol-based phone systems for business customers, said it has completed its $31.1 million acquisition of Vodavi Technology Inc., an Arizona firm that looks to integrate voice, data, and video into business communications solutions.
"The Vodavi acquisition substantially ratchets up our combined research and development footprint and should allow us to more rapidly bring innovative product solutions and enhancements to market," Vertical Communications chief executive Bill Tauscher said in a statement.
Associated with the Vodavi acquisition, Vertical said it will benefit from a strategic business relationship with LG-Nortel Co. Ltd., formerly Vodavi's largest shareholder.
LG-Nortel is a joint venture of LG Electronics Inc. of Korea and Nortel Networks Corp. of Canada that specializes in developing and marketing telecommunications equipment and network solutions.
