Amer. Superconductor gets wind contract

American Superconductor Corp. has a $2 million contract to develop a wind energy system for a South Korean company.
American Superconductor, a Westborough company focusing on energy technologies, said today it has signed a development contract worth more than $2 million with Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co., a South Korean engineering, procurement, and construction contractor.
Under the contract, an American Superconductor subsidiary, Windtec, will develop a 3 megawatt wind energy system for Doosan and support the assembly and installation of the first prototype, said American Superconductor, which added that the deal represents Windtec's first 3 megawatt development contract and its first entry into the South Korean renewable energy market.
