Tracey Armstrong will succeed chief executive Joseph Alen of Copyright Clearance Center Inc.

The center is a Danvers not-for-profit company, and its text licenses and licensing solutions help ensure that publishers and authors worldwide are compensated for the reuse of their content while simplifying copyright support by corporate and academic content users.

Alen, chief executive since 1992, plans to retire at the end of the company's fiscal year in June, closing out a 25-year career at the company, Copyright Clearance Center said.

Armstrong joined the center in 1989 and currently holds the title of chief operating officer, said the company, which sometimes refers to itself as CCC.

"We are confident Tracey will take CCC to the next level," Jack Hoeft, chairman of the company's board of directors, said in a statement.
