Law firm Foley Hoag LLP said today that Mark B. Childress will join the firm as a partner who will focus much of his time on the firm's life sciences and energy technology-and-renewables practices.

From 2000 to 2005, Childress served as chief counsel and policy director for US Senator Tom Daschle of South Dakota in Daschle's capacity as the Democratic leader of the Senate; previously, Childress was senior counsel to President Bill Clinton.

"Mark has worked at the highest levels of the executive branch and Congress," Nick Littlefield, co-chair of Foley Hoag's government strategies group, said in a statement.

Childress will work in the firm's Boston and Washington, D.C. offices, Foley Hoag said.
