Northeastern University has been granted $1.2 million for a nanodevice project.
The university said today that the grant comes from the W.M. Keck Foundation, of Los Angeles, whose priorities include nanodevices and medical research.
Researchers plan to use the money to help develop a nanochip that could be used in a nanobiosensor and a drug-delivery system, the university said.
The goal of the nanodevice would be to identify antigens in body fluids or tissue and release specific drugs and dosages, in real time, based on what is detected, Northeastern said.
