A key patent has been issued that moves QD Vision of Watertown closer to commercializing quantum dots.
Quantum dots, which can be used in light-emitting devices, offer promise for the flat-panel display industry.
The US Patent and Trademark Office issued a patent for "stabilized semiconductor nanocrystals" to MIT, and the patent is exclusively licensed to QD Vision, the company said.
"This innovation represents a path to realize the performance and manufacturing advantages of integrating quantum dots into electrical device structures," Seth Coe-Sullivan, the company's chief technology officer, said in a statement.
