Defense contractor Raytheon Co. said today that it won a $32.7 million subcontract from a unit of Boeing Co. to develop radar to track hostile warheads.

The pact awarded by prime contractor Boeing Integrated Defense Systems will provide funds to develop a primary sensor for the ballistic missile defense system which will identify hostile warheads, provide countermeasures and interceptor missiles to protect the U.S. and its allies from attacks.

Boeing received a contract under the Ground Based Midcourse Defense program part of the Missile Defense Agency's Ballistic Missile Defense System.

Work will be performed at various Raytheon's sites including Woburn, Mass., Andover, Mass. and Raytheon's Technical Services site.
