Locals may want to forget about the Super Bowl after the Patriots' meltdown, but here's a tip for game day: Load up on broccoli and Brussels sprouts.

The NPD Group, a consumer research firm in Port Washington, N.Y., conducted a survey of eating habits on Super Bowl Sunday and found that the number one food consumed is not pizza, chips, or dips, but vegetables.

While the game might draw millions of viewers - and even get folks to watch TV ads - it does not completely alter eating habits.

Sunday is typically a day when consumers down vast amounts of veggies, and Super Bowl Sunday is no exception, suggested NPD vice president Harry Balzer in a statement.

"Super Bowl Sunday is a Sunday before it's 'super,' and Americans will typically follow Sunday's eating habits," he said. "Vegetables are quite popular on all Sundays."
