Law firm to open Silicon Valley office

Nixon Peabody LLP, a law firm with a big presence in Boston, will open an office in California's Silicon Valley.

Nixon Peabody said today that it is bringing in a new group of business attorneys, from Silicon Valley Law Group, to help start up the new office.

A Silicon Valley operation "is the logical next step for us as we expand our presence in the venture capital and emerging growth companies spaces nationwide," said Jonathan R. Karis, a partner at the firm.

The new office will operate temporarily in Palo Alto until a permanent location is selected.
