N.H. credit card king?
New Hampshire may have a bit of a head start on Massachusetts when it comes to moving toward a cashless society, a new study suggests.
According to a survey from Experian, the credit bureau, New Hampshire and New Jersey lead the nation with highest percentage of consumers with at least 10 credit cards; 20 percent of consumers in those states fell into that category, compared with a national average of 14 percent.
While the wallets of New Hampshire folks may bulge with plastic, Massachusetts consumers are no stranger to Visa and MasterCard; 18.9 percent of Bay Staters have 10 or more credit cards.
Experian offered some advice for consumers: Maxing out credit cards can have a "negative effect on their credit scores."
