A Cambridge "green" limousine service today launched West Coast operations, in the San Francisco area.

Instead of stretch limos, PlanetTran offers to chauffeur customers around in a fleet of environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles.

PlanetTran said its Toyota Priuses now serve airports in San Francisco, Oakland, and San Jose.

"PlanetTran is not your grandfather's car service," founder and president R. Seth Riney said. "Offering an eco-friendly alternative to gas-guzzling limos, we are the next generation business in an old fashioned industry."

The company said it offers online scheduling and in-car WiFi access and employs real-time vehicle tracking.
