GVA Thompson Doyle Hennessey & Stevens, a 25-person real estate firm in Boston, is merging with a New York agency that’s also part of the 3,000-person GVA network.

Cofounder Cathy Thompson said her firm’s partnering with GVA Williams of New York will let the combined company expand services in Boston.

GVA Thompson Doyle Hennessey & Stevens provides brokerage services and project management, such as helping clients hire architects. The company has grown slowly, Thompson said, but ‘‘this year we made the decision to take a leap forward and grow a lot faster.’’

The new firm, called GVA Williams, will start offering property management and investment and other advisory services as it seeks to become a full-service firm.
