SolidWorks designs CAD test
SolidWorks Corp. today unveiled a new test for evaluating student skills in computer-assisted design, or CAD.
The Concord company said its Certified SolidWorks Associate examination tests students' abilities to model objects in 3D, their understanding of the overall design process, and their familiarity with industry best practices - crucial knowledge for engineering careers.
"There is no standardized test that comprehensively measures students' 3D CAD skills, so teachers and potential employers have to rely on project work and in-class performance," Marie Planchard, SolidWorks director of education, said in a statement.
The new test program, she added, "gives students a way to showcase their skills, teachers a way to gauge progress, and companies an additional tool for evaluating potential hires."
SolidWorks is part of Dassault Systemes S.A. of France.
