Tagsys unveils "e-connectware"
Tagsys unveiled today a software suite designed to manage global networks that use Radio Frequency Identification, or RFID.
The Cambridge company, which specializes in RFID infrastructure, is calling its software suite "e-connectware."
"E-connectware lets customers or their service provider manage RFID infrastructure just like voice and data networks," Tagsys chief executive Elie Simon said in a statement. "With e-connectware, we can offer customers level-of-service agreements on performance, uptime, and scalability for RFID deployments that meet the most demanding requirements."
Last year, the company moved its global headquarters from France to Cambridge partly because RFID technology is being more rapidly embraced in the United States than anywhere else; the company has made RFID tags for everything from library books to prescription drug vials.
In early 2006, Tagsys won a contract from pharmaceutical giant Pfizer Inc. to equip Viagra bottles with its tags.
