Two Cape Cod men were sentenced to prison in federal court in Boston for tax evasion conspiracy.

From roughly 1991 to 2002, the pair was part of a conspiracy to under-report income at a Sunoco station in Harwich by skimming cash and hiding proceeds, Michael J. Sullivan, the US Attorney for Massachusetts, and Douglas A. Bricker, special agent in charge of New England criminal investigations for the US Internal Revenue Service, said in a statement.

The amount of tax loss as a result of the scheme exceeded $300,000, Sullivan and Bricker said.

Thomas P. Stillson, 51, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of six months and a $3,000 fine by US District Judge George A. O'Toole, and Stephen A. Twombly, 64, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of four months and a $2,000 fine, Sullivan and Bricker said; Stillson and Twombly were also sentenced to two years of supervised release following their imprisonment.
