American Science and Engineering Inc. said today it has received $17.5 million service-and-maintenance order from the federal government.
The Billerica company, which focuses on X-ray detection technology, said the contract is to service vans equipped with its mobile screening systems that can detect potential threats.
The company said it was awarded the initial phase of the contract in September; this latest award brings the total funded amount to $28.5 million, and the contract has a potential value of up to $46.2 million.
