Avid Technology Inc. announced today the worldwide availability of product lines that can support Intel-based Macintosh notebooks and workstations from Apple Inc.

Avid of Tewskbury develops, markets, and sells software and hardware systems for creating such media content as video, audio, animation, and games.

The company said its new Media Composer and Avid Xpress Pro systems now include support for Intel-based Mac notebooks and workstations, as well as new workflow capabilities and an updated bundle of third-party content creation software.

Avid also said that its version 2.7 of the Media Composer system introduces a script-based editing tool that uses phonetic speech-recognition technology to automatically sync text with media.
