Local firm saves New Mexico energy
EnerNOC Inc. will help reduce electricity demand for part of New Mexico during peak demand periods.
The Boston company said it has entered a 10-year contract with the Public Service Company of New Mexico. The Albuquerque company serves more than 425,000 electricity customers in about 100 communities statewide, according to its website.
EnerNOC uses technology to automate the so-called demand-response process for electric utilities by signing up commercial and industrial electricity users. During peak demand periods, such as hot summer days, EnerNOC technology can remotely curtail the electricity consumption of a large network of companies.
Earlier this month, EnerNOC said it had entered a similar contract with Pacific Gas and Electric Co., which serves parts of California.
