Netflix chooses BladeLogic

The online movie rental service Netflix Inc. has chosen BladeLogic Inc. to upgrade the automation of its information-technology infrastructure.

BladeLogic of Lexington is a provider of data-center automation software.

Before selecting BladeLogic, Netflix managed its server and application environments using internally developed tools and scripts; by selecting BladeLogic, Netflix will be able to further streamline operations and improve service availability by fully automating the entire lifecycle of its data-management processes, BladeLogic said.

"BladeLogic will help us reduce the management costs per server, while delivering an IT environment which is more efficient and responsive to the needs of our business," Netflix vice president Mike Osier said in a statement.
