Sonus to acquire Zynetix
Sonus Networks Inc. said today it has agreed to acquire Zynetix Ltd. so it can expand its presence in the wireless market.
Sonus, a Westford provider of VoIP infrastructure solutions for wireline and wireless service providers, said it has agreed to pay $13.2 million in cash and stock for Zynetix, a British firm that designs, develops, and sells advanced GSM softswitches to such customers as operators of major mobile networks.
Sonus said it will integrate Zynetix technology with its own products to create leading solutions that address "the end-to-end IP wireless access needs" of network operators worldwide.
"Zynetix provides Sonus with a new and unique technology solution to expand its presence in the high-growth wireless market," Sonus chief executive Hassan Ahmed said in a statement.
