Upton joins BBN Technologies

BBN Technologies said that Richard A. Upton has joined the company to work on an potential new market focused on cost-effective healthcare.

The Cambridge company said Upton's work will inolve BBN's knowledge of intelligent systems, speech recognition, natural language processing, distributed information sharing, and network security. For example, a system using the company's technology could allow a patient on vacation to receive emergency treatment from docotrs who have access to his complete medical history.

Before joining BBN, Upton was responsible for all business development and strategy for a BAE Systems North America line of business as Vice President, Business Development, National Security Solutions.
