CBI Consulting gets NC airport job
CBI Consulting Inc. has been retained to assist in the structural design of two large-scale public art works at a North Carolina airport.
CBI Consulting is an architectural and engineering firm headquartered in Boston.
The firm said it has been retained by Lydia Rubio, a famous Miami artist, to help beautify Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
Rubio has been commissioned to sculpt two works that will serve as centerpieces for the north and south lobbies of a new terminal; a 25-foot high aluminum sculpture depicting a dogwood tree will be installed in one lobby, and a 32-foot-high stainless steel inverted spiral shell is planned for the other lobby, CBI Consulting said.
The firm said it has been retained to provide the structural design necessary to support the large-scale pieces and to facilitate fabrication of the art work.
