Dunkin' Donuts unveils Tropical Fruit Smoothie

If Trader Vic, Pooh-Bah and patron saint of the umbrella drink, logged much time in Jamaica, he might have dreamed up something similar to Dunkin' Donuts' latest cold-beverage offering - the Tropical Fruit Smoothie.

A press release tub-thumping the new flavor's addition to the smoothie lineup evokes memories of exotic Trader Vic concoctions - if demon rum were involved - and, of course, it mercifully isn't.

The Canton-based chain, a part of Dunkin' Brands Inc., described the new smoothie as a "blend of real pineapple, banana, and coconut flavors with low-fat yogurt."

The release continued, "The Tropical Fruit Smoothie is a good source of vitamin C and calcium and provides a healthier snack or on-the-go option for busy customers."

Part of the Dunkin' Donuts strategy is to keep customers intrigued with new menu offerings and to remind them that it offers a variety of products that go well beyond its doughnut heritage.
