Cambridge biopharmaceutical company Dyax Corp. said today it obtained positive results from a late-stage test of its drug candidate for a skin disease known as hereditary angiodema.
In February, Dyax and Genzyme Corp. ended their collaboration over the DX-88 following delays with the application from the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA eventually requested a new study. Genzyme still has an equity interest in Dyax.
Angiodema is a condition that causes swelling under the skin.
In the 72-patient phase 3 clinical trial, symptoms improved after four hours, using a measure developed to rate angiodema attacks. Safety results show the drug was well tolerated
